Woman critically injured in crash

A St. Catharines woman was critically injured in a car crash that closed a section of Glendale Avenue in St. Catharines overnight.

The 23-year-old victim is being treated in the intensive care unit at Hamilton General Hospital.

Niagara Regional Police said the woman was driving west on Glendale alone about 11:30 p.m. when her car veered across the oncoming lanes near Mountain Street and slammed into a tree.

The woman was taken to St. Catharines General Hospital to be stabilized before being transferred to Hamilton.

Police are asking witnesses to call investigators at 905-688-4111, ext. 5500.
